Public Consultations for the “Safe Vistula” Project Extended Until January 17, 2025

The State Water Farm Waters of Poland, Regional Water Management Authority in Krakow, is extending the public consultation process for the project titled “Safe Vistula.” The consultations will begin on November 29, 2024, and continue until January 17, 2025. During this time, five meetings with communities from flood-prone areas are planned, including two in the Szczurowa municipality.

Among the planned activities is the construction of two polders: Koszyce/Szczurowa and Przykop. They are intended to enhance flood safety for approximately 140,000 people. All residents of the so-called Sandomierz Vistula region are invited to discuss the proposed measures with experts. Vistula Sandomierska.

– We are presenting a project that is crucial for the safety of the entire region’s residents. Let’s talk and build a safe future together. We have responded to the expectations of the Szczurowa municipality community and extended the consultation process until January 17, 2025. We have also organized an additional meeting for them on January 14, 2025. – says Director Wojciech Kozak from the State Water Management Authority Wody Polskie RZGW in Kraków. The extended deadline also means the possibility of submitting applications and comments until January 17, 2025.

During the public consultation period, Wody Polskie in Kraków invites you to five consultation meetings on the following dates and locations

December 9, 2024, at the Basztowy Hotel in Sandomierz, in Sandomierz, at 10.00 AM
December 10, 2024, in the Dance Hall in Szczurowa, at 4:00 PM
December 11, 2024, at the Concert Hall of the First-Level Music School in Koszyce, at 4:00 PM
December 12, 2024, at the Village Building in Przykop, Padew Narodowa municipality, at 4:00 PM. January 14, 2025, at the Dance Hall in Szczurowa, at 4:00 PM.

During the consultations, both the Program project and the Environmental Impact Forecast developed for it, along with the feedback submission form, will be made available on November 29 at www.bezpiecznawisla.pl/konsultacje, as well as at the offices of RZGW in Kraków and RZGW in Rzeszów

All interested parties will be able to participate in the consultation meetings, familiarize themselves with the documentation, and also have the opportunity to submit comments and suggestions electronically, by mail, or in person at the location where the Program project is available, i.e., at the offices of RZGW in Kraków and RZGW in Rzeszów.

The “Safe Vistula” project is referred to in official documents by its full name: “Program of retention measures as part of flood risk management in the Upper Western Vistula and Upper Eastern Vistula river basin between Kraków and Zawichost.
