The “Safe Vistula” project is currently open for public consultation. Applications and comments on the planned flood protection measures in the so-called Sandomierz Vistula region continue to be submitted. A reminder that submissions are still open until January 17, 2025. They can also be made during the next consultation meeting, scheduled for January 14 at the Dance Hall in Szczurowa (all interested parties are invited from 4:00 PM).
The consultations, which began on November 29, 2024, have already included four meetings. The discussions focus on flood protection measures for the entire Sandomierz Vistula region. The most contentious issues involve the preliminary designs for polders in Szczurowa and Przykop, which would require the relocation of some residents. Representatives from the Kraków Regional Water Management Authority (RZGW Kraków) emphasize that this is still a preliminary stage of the project and continue to invite all interested parties to participate in discussions aimed at finding the best flood protection solutions for approximately 150,000 people.
