More than 900 applications and comments were submitted during the public consultations for the “Safe Vistula” project, which took place from November 29, 2024, to January 17, 2025. Experts are now analyzing the feedback. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Consultation meetings were held in Sandomierz, Szczurowa, Koszyce, and Przykopy. Residents, local government representatives, NGOs, and entrepreneurs submitted their feedback via an online form, email, as well as in written and oral form. The most debated issue in the areas of potential investments was the preliminary design of two polders\u2014in Szczurowa and Przykop\u2014which would require the relocation of local residents. According to representatives of Wody Polskie and experts, these structures could significantly prevent flooding in the Upper Western Vistula and Upper Eastern Vistula water regions between Krak\u00f3w and Zawichost.
At the request of Szczurowa residents, the consultations were extended until January 17, 2025. However, due to an ongoing protest, a planned additional meeting did not result in a substantive discussion on flood prevention measures. <\/p>\n

The goal of the “Safe Vistula” project is to enhance the safety of residents in the Vistula Valley between Krak\u00f3w and Zawichost\u2014a region that suffered a devastating flood in 2010. Wody Polskie aims to develop solutions in cooperation with residents and local governments to significantly reduce flood risks.
